Amish Family Recipes
How we began: In early 2001, Keith & Lynn Walker started selling a popular Dutch canned-good line known as Jake and Amos. They quickly grew to three times their original size and introduced a new line of canned goods called Amish Family Recipes. After many wonderful years at market, the Walkers decided it was time to move on to another chapter in their lives and sell the business. In February 2010, Rodney & Brie Garber bought the delectable canned goods line known as Amish Family Recipes. The Garbers learned very quickly what a quality business they had purchased. They often find it very difficult to keep their hands off the product and frequently find themselves opening a jar of Lynn's Pineapple Salsa on a Sunday evening and eating the entire jar themselves.
If you are visiting Central Market on any Tuesday, Friday or Saturday you will always find a Garber behind this stand and happy to meet you. If Rodney or Brie are not there to welcome you, you will pleased to meet and get to know Rodney's mom, Cindi. Rodney finds it fun "employing" his mother. Whoever is behind the stand, they are always more than happy to chat with you. One of their favorite aspects of market is getting to know their customers. Rodney is an entrepreneur at heart and loves chatting with folks at market and hearing suggestions for new products - so be sure to stop by and say hello!
Amish Family Recipes offers a full line of over 34 jarred salsas, jams, dressings, mustards and pickled veggies. Most of their items are preservative free, all natural and gluten free! They also offer 5 varieties of no-sugar-added jams. Rodney enjoys making smoothies with these and Brie enjoys eating several spoonfuls over her oatmeal in the mornings.
Although their products can be found at other locations, the stand at market is their only company-owned retail location - so you can be sure you'll get the best they have to offer.
In addition to their own line of products, the Garber's also sell Beanies BBQ sauces, hot sauces, cookie, dip and meadow tea mixes as well as biscotti. In May 2010 they added Gluten-Free Biscotti to their long list of gluten-free biscotti varieties to satisfy Cindi's desire for Gluten Free products.
